"There is to us only one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we by Him." -- 1 Corinthians 8:6.

The záō of humans = living = alive in the body

Whenever used in reference to humans, záō is never speaking of anything else. Mankind was created to live on the created earth, in a created body. We were not created to "go to heaven when we die". That's not God's purpose. The current reality is temporary. Death is the enemy of God.

LIFE

Strongs Greek 02222 ζωή zōḗ, dzo-ay'
From 02198 ➔ ➔ ➔ ➔ ➔ ➔ ➔ ➔ ➔ ➔ ➔

(literally or figuratively):--life(-time).
2. záō (living | alive)

Strongs Greek 02198 ζάω záō, dzah'-o
a primary verb; to live (literally or figuratively):--life(-time), (a-)live(-ly), quick.
Genesis 3:20 (Septuagint)
And Adam called the name of his wife Life [zōḗ], because she is the mother of all the living.
Genesis 3:20 (King James Version)
And Adam called his wife's name Eve [chavvâh], because she was the mother of all living.

Pneuma: Spirit.

Matthew 22:32b
“God is not the God of the dead but of the living [záō]!"

Throughout the New Testament, the  life | eternal life [zōḗ] of humans is linked to life in the body [záō].

In the long list of verses where it's found (see just a little further down below), the word záō (alive | living) is always referring either to the living God, or to humans who are alive in the body. The word is never used in reference to anyone who has died | fallen asleep | is not alive and living in the body (to say that the life of Adam or the life of humans is experienced in the body sounds like a ridiculous statement about the obvious).

Similarly, the Greek words that talk about the resurrection | rising again, i.e anástasis, égersis, anístēmi, and egeírō, without exception when they are talking about rising again from death, are talking about and referring only to the resurrection of the body (the body that died and became the seed of the spiritual, but tangible, body that we are taught will be raised).

The words never refer to a "spiritual" resurrection. (This is not to say that humans have no soul | spirit or that there is no "afterlife" experience), but the Bible tells us that immortality is in Christ alone.

-- "God has given to us eternal life in the body [zōḗ], and this (eternal) life in the body [zōḗ] is IN HIS SON. He that has the Son has (eternal) life in the body [zōḗ]; and he that has not the Son of God has not (eternal) life in the body [zōḗ]." -- 1 John 5:11-12.

-- "The Word was in the beginning with God. In Him was (eternal) life [zōḗ], and the (eternal) life [zōḗ] was the light of men." -- John 1:2 & 4.

Jesus' friend, Lazarus, had died. His sisters called for Jesus, and when Jesus arrived, Lazarus' sistr Martha said:

-- "I know that he shall rise from the dead bodily [anístēmi] in the resurrection of the body [anástasis] at the last day.

Jesus said to her, I am the Resurrection of the body [anástasis] and the the (eternal) Life [zōḗ]!

He who believes in Me, though he die, yet he shall live in the body [zōḗ].

And whoever is alive in the body [zōḗ] AND believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?" -- Jon 11:24-26.

It's because:

-- "The Word was in the beginning with God. In Him was (eternal) life [zōḗ], and the (eternal) life [zōḗ] was the light of men." -- John 1:2 & 4.

Revelation 20:4:
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they be alive [záō] and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
